During the interview Erin Brockovich had with the doctor, Erin Brockovich talked about things that are not related to the job she applied for. Erin Brockovich talked about her three kids and how useless her ex-husband was. She also talked about getting a degree in geology, which is irrelevant to being a medical nurse or doctor. She commented on the office where the interview took place. Furthermore, when there was silence between Erin and the doctor, Erin kept the conversation going by talking about subjects that are of no importance towards the job interview.
2. What are the roadblocks to gainful employment that Brockovich faced?
There were many roadblocks to gain employment that Erin Brockovich faced. One of the many roadblocks were her three children who need parental care from Erin herself. Furthermore, Erin Brockovich did not have enough money to look after her kids. Brockovich's attitude is another roadblock towards her employment because she offends many people with her persistant attitude through coarse language. However, with this type of attitude, Erin stood up for what she believes in and got what she wanted. In addition, Erin Brockvich did not have a good education for her to get an appropriate job. Many jobs require a lot of training and skills, but Erin Brockovich did not have these training and skills to acquire a job that is well paid.
3. Discuss the importance of creating a life situation for yourself, which allows you to follow a career path of your choosing.
It is important to create a life situation for myself, which allows me to follow a career path of my choosing. This is because I would likely be prepared for my job in the future if I receive the appropriate training. Furthermore, if I choose my career path carefully, I will end up with a job I will be devoted to. I will try my best in this job and put tremendous effort in work. If this job is what I desire, then I will not give up easily.
4. Why was Brockovich successful?
Brockovich was successful because she was hardworking and stood up for herself to what she believed in. She worked extremely hard to get 90 percent of her customers to agree to sign a document. Her hard work surprised the lawyers and her boss, Ed. She knew every little detail about each of her clients. She also has a persistent attitude and did not give up easily, even if she had to collect a dead frog and climb in a sewage pipe to gather samples for research. Eventhough Erin Brockovich received a threatening phone call from somebody, she still did not give up. She risked the danger of her children for her job. Brockovich gave up her time spent with her family, but had help from her neighbour to take care of her children. Erin Brockovich's image helped her succeed further, therefore she had an advantage over other people.
